Mentoring Providers

Mentoring Providers are charged with the responsibility of providing direct mentoring services to new principals.  Each INPM Mentoring Provider has met the program’s standards and criteria and has been certified by the Illinois State Board of Education to provide mentoring services. Mentoring Provider Qualifications

• Provide evidence of an overall commitment to professionalizing education and school improvement efforts
• Demonstrate capacity to meet the needs of an identified geographic area or set of districts
• Provide evidence that Provider staff have been employed in roles requiring mastery of the Illinois Professional School Leader Standards
• Provide evidence that Provider staff have experience providing professional development to educators

Mentoring Provider Expectations

• Employ qualified mentors and maintain appropriate records of mentor applications, reference letters, and other relevant information
• Provide initial mentor training, ongoing professional development, and annual refresher training
• Solicit and contract mentoring services with new principals and school districts
• Match mentors and new principals based on grade level, geography, and leadership needs
• Provide support and professional resources to the mentor in the course of his or her mentoring relationship
• Provide quarterly networking sessions to enhance the mentor’s skills and provide structured opportunities for problem-solving
• Guide the mentor in the compilation of information that will contribute to the evaluation of individual mentoring relationships and of the mentoring program as a whole
• Receive and distribute payments to mentors
• Complete all forms, paperwork, and evaluations as required by the Illinois State Board of Education

Become a Mentoring Provider

Organizations representing Illinois principals, institutions of higher education, community colleges, regional offices of education, school districts, or other educational providers that meet the qualifications listed above are eligible to apply to become INPM Mentoring Providers.  Applications are due to the INPM Program Manager by February 13, 2009, and the status of perspective Mentoring Providers will be made available by March 1, 2009.  The Mentoring Provider Application and Scoring Rubric are provided below.

The current status and 09-10 planning document we discussed at Regional Meetings has been placed on the INPM website page for Mentoring Providers.  Please complete and return this brief questionnaire to Rashonda (rashonda@ilprincipals.org) by March 31, 2009.

This is a word document that you can download, complete and return as an attachment.  The information you provide will give a picture of where we are right now, help in planning for next year, and begin the process of making improvements/modifications to your proposal that was the basis for your past and continuing certification as a mentoring provider.
